Baking and colour therapy

Last evening I decided to bake something as it was dark and rainy outside and I didn't feel like going out. I want to share this easy and delicious recipe of Pie with broccoli and fetacheese. It's really easy to prepare and tastes wonderful. You will need:

BASE
125 g quark or plain yoghurt (half of the jar)
125 g butter
2 dl wheat flours
1 tsp baking powder

FILLING
200-400 g broccoli (fresh or frozen)
180 g fetacheese
3 eggs
1 can (3,3 dl) of cream
1 ts oregano or other herbs
1/2 tsp salt

Mix soft butter and flour-baking powdermixture with quark (or yoghurt).

Set ready paste to a mold (28 cm). Cook broccoli in spare water about 2-3 minutes (if you use fresh broccoli, you should first cut it into small pieces and cook it until it's "al dente"). Strain water from broccoli and let it cool down. Then add broccoli and fetacheese on top of the base. Mix eggs and spices with cream and add it on the top of the fillings. Finally, grate little amount of cheese (any cheese will do!) on the top and the pie is ready for the oven. Bake the pie about 35 minutes in the sublayer of the oven, in 200 degrees. Let the pie retreat a while and Enjoy!
I enjoyed a piece of pie with 2 big cups of green tee and the latest number of Trendi - magazine which I hadn't had time to read earlier. I don't know was it the pink cardigan in the cover or what, but suddenly I wanted to lacquer my nails to PINK.

After having a PINK shower with TIGI's delicious smelling Superstar products, I ended up wearing my newest PINK nightdress that I found from Seppälä's discount trapeze. Before I went to sleep, I started to read Zadie Smiths' book On Beuty, which (surprisingly) has a PINK cover:D To a person who usually wears only black and grey, colours can do wonders...especially when they're used safely at home and nobody is watching:). Thanks to pinky dreams, today I'm feeling like a whole new person!

Buy Nothing Day

In order to participate to the annual international Buy Nothing Day which in Finland takes place 28th of November, I've decided to strech the day to last the whole month. Because this task is extremely challenging for me - the shopaholic - I'm suffering withdrawal symptoms already. Therefore, I must stay out of stores and restrain my internet surfing so that I don't accidentaly get into interesting online shops.

Besides attending to Buy Nothing Day is a statement for the environment and effusive consumerism I'm also motivated by some selfish reasons. I've made some expensive purchases recently that outreached my unemployment budget quite briskly which led to a small personal economic catastrophe. So this is also a good way to compensate the situation. Here is one pair of the purchases that cost a fortune but are worth of every single penny:)

I've been dying to have a pair of Converse shoes that can be used in finnish weather conditions during the fall and winter. Well, yeah I 've been told that cool people wear original Converse around the year, but I guess that I'm not cool enough... My love for the Converse has last over ten years and still I haven't been able to wear those at winter even at the times of the worst teenage angst. Besides Converse fits perfectly to my feet, thanks to their genious halfsizing, best thing in Converse is that they last forever and are always fashionable.

I knew that my prayers for all-year-around Converse shoes had been heard when I went to see Nelly's shoe novelties and found these white leather beauty's. These are from the Converse 2008 collection and are designed for colder weather conditions as they are equipped with warm lining and leather coating. I also love the cute little detail that the Converse logo has been placed in the inner side of the shoes. Is that just Perfect or what?!

Well, I guess that I slipped a little sideways from the original topic which was the Buy Nothing Day. For more information check out at least http://www.alaosta.fi/ (finnish pages) and
http://www.buynothingday.co.uk/(english pages).

How many of you readers are attending the Buy Nothing Day? Here, now I have officially challenged other bloggers (especially fashion bloggers) to participate;)!

In search of a perfect pom pom beanie, help needed!

I have a problem. I've seen plenty of beautiful white/cream coloured, knitted pom pom beanies on the streets, but it seems that its impossible to find any from the stores. I've been hunting it for the whole season and still haven't found THE beanie. Problem is that I want to have one, need one and...I'm a terrible knitter. So, attention finnish readers (and those who are familiar with onlinestores that delivers to Finland in less than a month) please, please let me know if you have met my dream beanie somewhere! And finnish readers, even though I write my
blog in english, you can leave your comments in finnish:)

I place some pictures here, so you can have an idea about what kind of beanie I am looking for. And more bigger and warmer... the better it is!

I'm totally fed up with all of my last years knitted beanies with flower accessories and I'm desperately in need for a change!

What is your favorite hat/beanie/cap at this moment?

At the beginning

Hey everybody and welcome to my blog!

There are at least three reasons why I started to write this blog: 1) I'm extremely pissed off at the moment and needed a safe chanel to defuse my anger, 2) at the moment I don't have a job, which is getting slightly boring (and...poor) and 3) I'm loosing my ability to write anything and I thought this could help me bringing back my good old writingskills that I thought that I once possessed.

The reason why I'm not writing with my own name is that I honestly think that my writings could lose some of their originality if they became "social". It's a natural thing that people are giving their best shot when they enter the social world and so it is with the blogs. I want to be honest - but not hurt anyone's feelings. And as a bonus, I got the chance to use the title of a song from one of my very favourite bands, The Doors:) At first, I apologize my bad grammar since I'm not a native english. Please, try to understand.

And then, something about me. I'm 28 years old, female. Living in a very small town, in a very small country up in the Northern Europe, Finland. I have a daughter. I'm interested in almost everything, but my favourites are music, clothes, happiness, cooking, people, urban life, art, movies and so on:) I also have a secret wish of saving our planet from the environmental abuse and social injustice but I'm just on my way of learning how to be more eco and socio-friendly. I have obsession with fashion; clothes, shoes, cosmetics, which makes me feel guilty all the time and I'm trying my best to become fashionable without unnecessary wasting. I study social sciences and environmental issues at the university and have done it for quite many years now, so I oughta know!

This blog is going to be about my normal, everyday life. About everything that I think is beautiful and makes me feel happy. So those of you, who are already yawning, please feel free to carry on to the next blog:) This blog is going to deal with the things that made my day or - vice versa. And knowing myself those things can be just about anything!

So welcome, whoever you may be and please, feel free to leave a comment.
